Companies House fees rise from 1 May 2024 to fund new enforcement
On 19 February 2024 Companies House announced higher fees from 1 May 2024. The online confirmation statement fee went from £13 to £34 and online incorporation to £50. The fees regulations say the increases also fund the registrar's new investigation and enforcement work under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.
Companies House announced on 19 February 2024 that its fees would increase from 1 May 2024. The new amounts were set by the Registrar of Companies (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 (SI 2024/155), made on 14 February 2024 and laid before Parliament on 19 February.
What changed
- Confirmation statement filed online: £13 to £34. On paper: £40 to £62.
- Incorporation through the web service: £50. Same-day incorporation through software filing: £78. Paper incorporation: £71.
- Application to strike off a company: £33 online, £44 on paper.
- Several other registration fees changed in the same regulations.
Why
Companies House sets fees to recover its costs. The regulations' explanatory note says the increases at incorporation and on the annual confirmation statement also fund the registrar's new investigation and enforcement role under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023.
Who is affected
Every company incorporating or filing a confirmation statement on or after 1 May 2024, and the agents who pay filing fees on their behalf.
