Companies House WebFiling moves to GOV.UK One Login from 13 October 2025
From 13 October 2025, signing in to a Companies House WebFiling account requires GOV.UK One Login, with two-factor authentication. Filers must connect their WebFiling account on first sign-in after that date. Companies House advised checking that the WebFiling email address is current and pruning the list of companies the account files for. Charge documents can still be filed without connecting.
Companies House announced on 27 August 2025 that access to WebFiling accounts would move to GOV.UK One Login from 13 October 2025.
What changed
- From 13 October 2025, anyone signing in to WebFiling is prompted to connect the account to GOV.UK One Login, and cannot use WebFiling without doing so.
- One Login adds two-factor authentication and can also be used to verify identity for Companies House.
- Charge (mortgage) documents can still be filed without connecting.
- Companies House began moving its services to One Login in autumn 2024, starting with the Find and update company information account.
What to do
- Make sure the email address used for WebFiling is current and accessible, and use the same email for the Companies House account.
- Create a One Login with that email address before the switch if you do not have one.
- Check the list of companies the WebFiling account is authorised to file for, and remove any you no longer act for.
Who is affected
Everyone who files with Companies House through WebFiling, including company secretaries and agents filing for many companies.
