Hong Kong Business Registration Levy Reinstated: BRC Fees Increase by HKD 150; Budget Adjustments Required

HK Business Registration levy waiver expired 31 March 2026; reinstatement effective 1 April. BRC fees rise HKD 150 (1-year) to HKD 2,350; 3-year to HKD 6,170.

The two-year waiver of the HK$150 Business Registration levy expired 31 March 2026. Effective 1 April 2026, the levy is fully reinstated for all BRC renewals. A 1-year BRC now costs HKD 2,350 (up from HKD 2,200); a 3-year BRC costs HKD 6,170. Non-renewal is a criminal offence.

For corporate service providers managing HK entity portfolios, the reinstatement has immediate budget implications. Any entities with BRC renewal dates on or after 1 April face new, higher fees. Clients should be notified to avoid budget overruns.

What You Need to Do

Review HK entity portfolio and identify all companies with BRC renewal dates between 1 April and 30 June 2026. Calculate cost impact against budget. Notify affected clients of fee changes before IRD renewal notices arrive. Verify payment processes handle higher fees. Update fee schedules for HK entity management services.
